Fate Core Links

Even though the Fate Core preview was released in December there is already a large amount of work that fans have contributed. As I read the Fate Core Community and the Fate Yahoo Group my CRS kicks in and  I forget where others interesting works are located.
So this little page is my list of interesting links for Fate Core. Of course, please feel free to use them and contribute other links I may have missed.

Fate Core Basic Links

Of course the first link is the hugely successful Fate Core Kickstarter page.
Oh and check out most of the previews in Update 30.
There is not much at Evil Hats Fate Core page but I'm including it anyway.
Evil Hat's Fate Core Wikia page needs lots more information and some of the links I am providing here ... hint hint hint.
Yahoo's old groups for Fate is still around and still difficult to read, but good people still contribute there.

+Jeremy Kostiew has a Fate tutorial that is helpful to understand the basics.

FATE SF is a great site to check out for scifi games with all versions of Fate.

Gaming Material

Just a few links to what I've used for the only Fate Core session I've ran.
+Jens Alfke provided this really useful Cheat Sheet. (Hmmm don't know why he doesn't show up with +)
Found a Fate Conflict Outline but I'm can't remember who provided it, it's that CSR thing.
+Jay Elmore has an update for the both the Cheat Sheet and the Conflict Outline.

+David Wood has a Character Phase helper, which can be used for other Fate systems as well.

World Issue template by +Ria Hawk.

NPCiary by +Addramyr Palinor.

+Jacob Poss and +Stacey Chancellor have the Fate Points Podcast.

The old online Fate dice roller, but I prefer to use the normal 4d3-8 for pbp.

+Jonathon Fearn has a shared Google folder with a ton of information and other helpful documents.

+Robert Hanz has a nice post on writing good aspects.

+Richard Bellingham's Beginner's Guide.
Similarly +Andy Harsent has an Actions and Aspects Quick Reference.

Character Sheets:

+Giuseppe D'Aristotile has the pdf of a sheet I've used and other with defaults.
Html Character Sheet by +Adam Schwaninger
Uncredited

+John Donoghue FAE character sheet.

Mechanics and Rules

+Ryan M. Danks has an Alternative Initiaitive Mechanics that I bugged him about until he grew tired and just wrote it. I will be using this in my up coming Avatar Hack.
And there is his interesting take on Custom Skill Toolkit.

+Jacob Poss uses non-standard skills for his Magi game. I believe the idea is to use skills to capture setting and feel instead of actions. I have some similar thoughts with my Avatar hack.

A good discussion on what makes good skills started by +Michael Hopcroft.

Another good discussion on Refresh, Stunts and Extras.

A discussion on Gambling Rules started by +Josh Culbertson.

A long and interesting discussion of Create Advantage.

Stuntless rules for Fate Core by +Andrew Jensen.

+J B Bell has an interesting take on Nonviolent Fate.
Similarly +Andrew Jensen Reputation mechanics.

+Wil Hutton has a method of handling Contacts and Technosmithing.

+Fred Hicks (that name sounds familiar) wrote a piece about using Grid Maps with Fate.

Magic Systems

Vancian Magic system by +Don Schlaich .

+Rob Wieland's magic system for Ravenloft.

+Brett Bowen put together a Dresden Evocation system.

+Michael Martin has an Arcane system that creates spell-NPCs to do actions.

Dirty Street Magic by +Duncan Bain just in case you find yourself on those really scary streets without a weapon.

+Adam Schwaninger has a list of Random Ritual Components.

PK Levine at FateRPG Yahoo Group has put together an Elemental Magic system with a cheat sheet for spells.

As I'm putting this together I notice someone +Tim Popelier already did a bit of work on Bending for an Avatar game.

Another Elemental system by dave_joria in FateRPG yahoo based on the Stormchaser system.

Rune Magic by your one and only +Ergodic Mage is a few ideas inspired by an old Palladium Fantasy Diabolist I played years ago with a very strong dose in modern Runic Magic inspired by http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/index_magic.html

Settings and Hacks

The first thing people do after falling in love with Fate is make it fit their favorite setting.

The most prolific setting contributor I've ran across is +Jacob Poss who has contributed
Building Eternia I was never a big He-Man fan but I just might be if I get a chance to play this. Also compiled into a single pdf.
Magi I haven't read through this yet but am still including it because I have CSR, sorry forgot to tell you that. Updated with a pdf and ebook version.
Aeon Trinity is a hack of the old White Wolf Trinity game.
Eberron you may have heard of this setting.
Space Opera Basics is putting together a traditional Space Opera setting. He has even mentioned a nod to Lensemen and I will hold him up to it, ha.

+Dan Behlings Basic Fate Fantasy.

+Ryan M. Danks has also contributed some cool stuff and been polite when I bothered the crap out of him. But Ryan your blog is not available anymore. Star Wars you know it, you love now Ryan has given it to use Fate Core style.

+Dan Hall has this awesome hat and showed how my favorite anime show should be made into a game. Robotech Fate just covers the Invid Invasion right now but I can't wait for more from him.

+Tom Tyson has a really cool setting for Rollerball, one of my favorite movies (the original 1975 version).

+Brett Bowen's documents for Dresden Core.

StarTrek Fate by +Aaron Sturgill.

+Addramyr Palinor put together a MechWarrior hack.

+Ron Frazier has some notes on a Transformer Hack.

+Matthew Pauze has Two Worlds where our reality collides with another world.

+Andrew Goenner has a really interesting idea of heroes from different times (i.e. gaming genres) coming together. I would like to play in a session of Time Heroes of Fate.

+Richard Bellingham wrote up a post-apocalypticone shot that is so interesting I'm adding it as a interesting setting.
+Michael Moceri has a hack of Exalted. I've had Exalted for two years or so and never had the chance to play it.
+Rob Wieland wrote a Starfleet Academy hack of White Picket Witches and has a fantastic example of a Ghostbusters hack.

+Mark Miller has some notes on converting Grimm Tales RPG.

+Wil Hutton has a hack of Tribe8 and a Dishonored setting.

+Duncan Bain's hack of Legend of the Five Rings and Earthdawn.

+Adam Schwaninger has his Dresdenatural Hack.

PK Levine at FateRPG Yahoo Group has put together a Burn Notice hack.

+Jesse Ferguson has a D&D 4E  skill conversion chart but I don't think he continued on with a full hack.

+Jaap Stoel has a hack to add in detailed Politics.

+David Wood is working on Deep Cover which covers ideas of running espionage and spy thrillers.

More general Fate than Fate Core but John Till is working on a Project Generation module for Modiphius Entertainment. Follow some of his posts on Fate SF.

+Jeff Jones Star Frontiers Hack.

Using Diaspora Space Combat with Fate Core.

+Ergodic Mage is this fantastic guy, or so I've heard. Or would be if he didn't talk about himself in the 3rd person. Avatar the Fate Hack is in the initial notes phase but it promises to be the ultimate in Fate Core settings. I can't wait to read this garbage he is working on.

  1. The wiki page is maintained by fans, not Evil Hat. Feel free to add your links, please!

  2. Hey I fall into the fan category! I'll have to remove my own ... ahhh distinct ... writing style and make it more reference.
